Owned Heart and Soul
The Barefoot Wanderer is a new endeavor for me. It may be part travel blog, part advice column, part diary and peek into my innermost workings, or it may be merely a place for catharsis and new beginnings. At the very least, I hope it will be worthwhile. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see; hopefully together.
I am Marty Hamrick, and I am a cautious wanderer with bare feet. I am an analytical thinker with a creator's heart. My moods follow the moon and my will rivals the wind. A gypsy with roots and a witch with no broom. I am magic, and I am powerful, and I am imperfect and perfect all at once. I am a mother, a lover, a friend, a teacher, and a student. I am two warring halves to a fascinating, confounding whole.
Sometimes I am a writer. Strike that, because I AM a writer, and I'm going to prove it. To you, to myself, and anyone else who cares. Which is why we are here. This will be my contribution to art; to posterity; to my own vanity; but most importantly, this will be the place I prove I AM an artist. This will be where I make you proud that you've chosen to spend your time with me.
So thank you for allowing me the opportunity to show you what I'm made of.
What's It All About
The past year has been momentous for me; full of change, and growth, and figuring out who I am meant to be. In this space, I hope to examine those things more carefully; to reflect on all that is new, and where I am now, as well as to see where I have yet to go, and all that I still need to change. Inevitably, all things must change, or they wither and die; so even this may change soon enough, but for now, let's see where the winds will take us.

I am a 35-year-old, single mother with one beautiful son. I am a graphic designer by trade, and a poet by birth. I am a witch, but not the way you think. I know a lot about a lot, and what I don't know, I will find out. I love to read, and to travel, but I don't get to do nearly enough of either. I hope to change that soon, and hope you'll come along for the ride.
